Mental Health Month may have ended but mental health is a conversation that should be addressed on a monthly, weekly, and/or daily basis depending on your unique situation.
Monet Fit is a big advocate of self care and living your best life and taking your mental health seriously is a huge part of that. When I unintentionally starting my fitness journey, my mental health was at an all time low. A bad breakup caused a lack of self esteem and confidence which led to binge eating resulting in a 30lb weight gain.
It took a while but I realized I was better than that. We are all special and unique in our own way and no person should have control over your thoughts to make you feel otherwise.
As I stated, my fitness journey was unintentional. It started with taking my only pair of tennis shoes and going on a walk. It helped TREMENDOUSLY! Being outside in nature, discovering my neighborhood that I hadn't walked around before, saying hello to strangers; it was just what I needed to clear my mind and boost my mood.
Fitness can do that for you too! To this day, doing yoga or going out for a walk or jog is one of my go-to's to clear my head.
Once you find a fitness routine that takes you to a happy place, keep doing it! Not only will you get stronger physically, but mentally as well. Working out isn't always pretty and sometimes it's the last thing you want to do but remember, "There's no such thing as a bad workout!"
That initial walk was all the indication I needed to continue walking which eventually lead to me joining a gym, training other women, and now advocating health and wellness while looking cute doing it!
If you ever feel down, just remember that you're only 1 workout away from a better you. If it isn't enough, talk with someone whether it's a friend or a licensed therapist to help get you where you need to be. You're worth it!
